Description
A vibrant Art Nouveau-style aviation poster depicts an elegantly dressed woman in a purple striped gown waving skyward as a fleet of early biplanes soars overhead against a vivid yellow-green sky. The artwork advertises the Grande Semaine d'Aviation de la Champagne, held in Reims, France from August 22–29, 1909 — a landmark event in aviation history that drew the world's best early aviators to the Champagne region and offered 200,000 francs in prizes. Reims, the historic cathedral city in northeastern France known for its Champagne wine heritage, hosted this pioneering air meet that helped define the future of powered flight.
