This vibrant late-19th-century lithographic travel poster promotes a grand Orient excursion aboard the steamship S.S. Columbia, operated by the Compagnie Hambourgeoise-Américaine, departing Cherbourg on 15 February 1898. The ship steams dynamically through choppy blue seas beneath a crescent moon framing the vessel, while a silhouetted skyline of Eastern minarets and spires evokes the exotic destinations — including Malta, Athens, Alexandria, Cairo, and Beirut — listed along the left margin.
