Description
This circa-1910 Belgian circus poster advertises the Hérakles Troupe, a company of acrobats, equilibrists, and aerial performers, rendered in a striking two-tone navy-and-white lithographic style. The composition teems with dynamic figures — athletes balancing in human towers, jumping rope, spinning hoops, and performing hand-to-hand acrobatics — surrounding portrait medallions of the performers themselves. A banner across the center proudly declares 'Unique dans ce Genre,' a common French promotional phrase of the Belle Époque era used to assert a troupe's singular showmanship. Printed by the Anvers lithography house of Julien t' Felt, the poster is a fine example of late-19th/early-20th-century European circus graphic art.
