The poster promotes an 'Exposition Générale' of new fabrics and ready-to-wear confections for women, with prices listed in francs. Jules Chéret, often called the 'father of the modern poster,' produced hundreds of such commercial lithographs in Paris during the 1880s–1890s, defining the aesthetic of French advertising art.
