Description
This bold Art Deco propaganda poster features two stylized workers — a farmer holding a rake and a laborer holding a shovel — shaking hands across a central wheat stalk beneath the banner 'Prosperity.' The text 'Work Pays America!' arches across the top, with 'Works Progress Administration' printed along the bottom. The Works Progress Administration (WPA) was a New Deal program established in 1935 under President Franklin D. Roosevelt to provide employment to millions of Americans during the Great Depression, and it commissioned thousands of posters like this one to promote civic pride and economic recovery.
