Description
A softly luminous botanical study depicts a fully open pale blush-pink rose — Rosa Indica Grande Indienne, known in English as Hume's Blush Tea-scented China — with delicate layered petals, several reddish buds, and deep green serrated leaves rendered in exquisite detail against a warm cream ground. The composition carries the graceful, scientifically precise style that made Pierre-Joseph Redouté, the Belgian-French court botanist and painter, the foremost botanical illustrator of his era, celebrated for his monumental work 'Les Roses' (1817–1824). This plate's handwritten Latin caption and stipple-engraving–inspired watercolour technique evoke the golden age of natural history illustration, making it an elegant, timeless addition to any interior.
