A luminous botanical illustration depicting Rosa Gallica — the Apothecary's Rose, also known as the Red Rose of Lancaster — rendered with exquisite detail showing a fully opened crimson bloom, two budding roses, and lush serrated foliage on a soft white ground. Pierre-Joseph Redouté, the celebrated Belgian-French botanical artist known as the 'Raphael of Flowers,' produced this plate for his landmark publication 'Les Roses' (1817–1824), widely regarded as the finest illustrated work on roses ever produced.
