Description
This iconic De Stijl composition features a dominant red rectangle occupying the upper-right quadrant of the canvas, offset by a bold blue square in the lower-left corner and a small yellow rectangle at the lower right, all divided by thick black horizontal and vertical lines against a white ground. The work radiates balance, clarity, and geometric precision — hallmarks of Mondrian's mature abstract language. Piet Mondrian developed this visual vocabulary in the 1920s–30s as a co-founder of the Dutch De Stijl movement, reducing painting to its purest formal elements: primary colors, black lines, and white space.
