Description

A young woman sleeps peacefully, her body curled in repose and draped in luminous, flowing saffron-orange silk robes that cascade across the entire composition. The warm golden light and sensuous fabric folds create an intensely rich, dreamlike mood characteristic of Victorian Classicism. 'Flaming June,' painted in 1895 by Frederic Leighton, is one of the most celebrated works of the British Academic tradition and is now housed in the Museo de Arte de Ponce in Puerto Rico.
