Description
This panel depicts the allegorical figure of Poetry from Gustav Klimt's monumental Beethoven Frieze, created in 1902 for the 14th Vienna Secession exhibition in Austria. A graceful female figure draped in flowing gold and ivory robes holds a small book, her dark hair adorned with flowers, while gilded ornamental forms and muted companion figures surround her against a pale, ethereal background. The work exemplifies Klimt's signature Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) style, combining symbolic figuration with luxurious decorative gold-leaf patterning to evoke the transcendent power of artistic and poetic expression.
