Description

This striking green-toned reproduction depicts Hygieia, the Greek goddess of health, rendered with Klimt's signature Symbolist intensity — a commanding female figure adorned with an ornate headdress holds a serpent-entwined cup (the Bowl of Hygieia), a timeless emblem of medicine and healing. The piece is a detail from Klimt's monumental Medicine ceiling panel (1907), originally created for the University of Vienna's Great Hall, which caused considerable controversy for its provocative allegorical treatment. The dominant emerald and jade palette gives this version a haunting, otherworldly atmosphere suited to modern interiors.
