Description

A powerful gust of wind scatters papers, hats, and a kite into the sky as travelers struggle to keep their footing along a grassy path in Ejiri, a post-town in Suruga Province (present-day Shimizu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan). The distant, snow-capped silhouette of Mount Fuji anchors the composition on the left, rendered in Hokusai's characteristic spare, elegant lines.
