Description
A large red-hulled Japanese cargo vessel with billowing white sails dominates the foreground as it navigates the open waters off Kazusa Province — the coastal region of present-day Chiba Prefecture, Japan — with the iconic silhouette of Mount Fuji rising faintly on the horizon. The vivid interplay of the vermilion ship, pale blue sea, and soft sky creates a sense of dynamic maritime energy characteristic of Hokusai's masterwork series. This woodblock print is part of the celebrated 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji,' completed around 1830–1832, in which Fuji appears from varied distances and perspectives across the Kantō region.
