Description

This serene woodblock print depicts the iconic snow-capped peak of Mount Fuji reflected in the still waters of Lake Misaka (Misaka-ko) in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, with lush green hillsides, pine trees, scattered thatched-roof dwellings, and a lone boatman gliding quietly across the foreground. The composition is awash in cool jade and sage greens, with the mountain's golden slopes and white summit creating a luminous focal contrast. Part of Hokusai's celebrated Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji series, this print captures the sacred mountain — Japan's highest peak at 3,776 meters — through one of its most poetic mirror reflections.
