Description

A large pink-and-green cargo boat dominates the foreground, laden with goods and figures, cutting diagonally across a calm inlet with reed-lined shores and a serene teal sky. In the upper right, the iconic snow-capped peak of Mount Fuji rises above the distant horizon, rendered in Hokusai's characteristic flat, graphic style. This print belongs to his celebrated 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji' series (c. 1830–1832), depicting Ushibori, a fishing and shipping town historically located in Hitachi Province (present-day Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan), known for its position on Lake Kasumigaura.
