Description

This woodblock print from Hokusai's iconic 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji' series depicts Shichiri Beach in Sagami Province (present-day Kanagawa Prefecture), with a serene coastal scene of rolling waves, pine-covered rocky outcrops, and a small seaside village rendered in Hokusai's signature teal and green palette. Mount Fuji rises majestically in the background beneath a glowing orange sky, while white-capped waves sweep across the foreground shoreline. Sagami Province, located southwest of Edo (modern Tokyo), provided Hokusai with some of his most celebrated vantage points of the sacred mountain.
