Description
This iconic woodblock print depicts Mount Fuji — Japan's highest peak and a sacred symbol of the nation — bathed in the warm reddish hues of an early autumn morning, its snow-capped summit rising sharply against a dramatic crimson sky streaked with delicate clouds. The lower slopes are cloaked in dark evergreen forests, while layered mist fills the middle distance in shifting tones of blue, teal, and pink. 'Fine Wind, Clear Morning,' commonly known as 'Red Fuji,' is one of Hokusai's most celebrated compositions from his landmark series 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji,' and remains a defining masterpiece of Japanese ukiyo-e art.
