Description

This iconic woodblock print depicts Mount Fuji — Japan's highest peak and most recognizable symbol, located on Honshu island southwest of Tokyo — rendered in deep crimson and burnt red against a rich indigo sky filled with wispy white clouds, suggesting a crisp late-summer or early-autumn morning. The mountain's snow-capped summit glows with streaks of white while dense forests of deep teal-green sweep across its base, creating a bold, harmonious composition. Part of Hokusai's celebrated series 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji,' this print is one of the most recognized works in Japanese ukiyo-e art.
