This traditional Japanese woodblock print depicts a lively festival scene at Kanasugi Bridge in Shibaura, Edo (present-day Tokyo), with tall poles bearing red and white banners, a large umbrella canopy, and sailing boats dotting the calm waterway beyond. Shibaura was a historic shoreline district along Tokyo Bay, known in the Edo period for its fishing communities and scenic views of the bay and distant Shinagawa coastline.
