Odawara is a coastal castle town in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, historically significant as the ninth post-town on the Tōkaidō road — the great highway connecting Edo (Tokyo) to Kyoto — and the Sakawa River was a notable crossing point for all travelers on that route.
