Description
This woodblock print from Hiroshige's celebrated series 'One Hundred Famous Views of Edo' (1856–1858) depicts Yatsumi Bridge in Edo (present-day Tokyo), Japan, framed by cascading weeping willow branches in the foreground. A graceful stone bridge arches over a calm canal, with a bustling riverside townscape stretching behind it. In the distance, the iconic snow-capped peak of Mount Fuji rises beneath a vivid orange-red sky, a compositional device Hiroshige used masterfully to unite near and far in a single serene vista.
