Description
This vibrant woodblock print depicts the vermilion-lacquered Kiyomizu Kannon-dō hall at Ueno in Edo (present-day Tokyo), its open veranda filled with strolling figures overlooking a sea of pale cherry blossoms in full bloom. The iconic circular torii-ring sculpture frames gnarled pine trees, while Shinobazu Pond shimmers in cool blue-green beyond — a landmark artificial pond that still lies within Ueno Park today. The composition captures the festive hanami spirit of Edo-period spring, combining architectural grandeur with delicate seasonal beauty in Hiroshige's signature atmospheric style.
