Description

Two ballet dancers in soft pink-rose costumes are caught in a quiet, intimate moment — one adjusting her hair while the other leans close in a graceful, introspective pose. Rendered in Degas's signature pastel technique, the figures emerge from a loosely sketched backdrop of warm ochres and muted greens, conveying both movement and repose. Edgar Degas (1834–1917), the French Impressionist master, devoted much of his career to depicting dancers of the Paris Opéra, capturing the behind-the-scenes world of the corps de ballet with unrivaled sensitivity and draughtsmanship.
