Description
Three Eastern Screech-Owls are depicted perched and in flight among the graceful branches of a pine tree, rendered with striking botanical and ornithological precision. The owls display both rufous and gray color morphs, with richly detailed feather patterns set against a soft, pale background. This plate comes from John James Audubon's landmark publication 'The Birds of America' (1827–1838), a celebrated series of life-sized, hand-colored aquatint engravings that revolutionized natural history illustration and remains one of the most prized works in American art and science.
