Description

Three Red-winged Blackbirds — two males displaying vivid scarlet and orange epaulets and one subtler female — are depicted perched and in flight among delicate pink blossoming branches, rendered with Audubon's characteristic scientific precision and naturalistic grace. This plate (No. 67) comes from Audubon's landmark ornithological work 'The Birds of America' (1827–1838), widely regarded as one of the greatest natural-history publications ever produced, originally engraved by Robert Havell Jr. in London.
