Description

This hand-colored engraving from John James Audubon's monumental 'Birds of America' depicts a Pomarine Jaeger (Lestris pomarinus) standing on a grassy coastal bank, its dark-brown and white plumage rendered with meticulous naturalistic detail against a pale background with a subtle seascape horizon.
