Description
This naturalist plate depicts two Pin-tailed Ducks — a male and female — rendered in exquisite detail against a soft wetland landscape of grassy banks and calm water. The birds are shown in characteristic poses with their slender necks extended and plumage meticulously illustrated in warm browns, grays, and olive tones. The work is from John James Audubon's landmark publication 'The Birds of America' (1827–1838), widely regarded as one of the greatest ornithological works ever produced, celebrated for its life-size, scientifically accurate and artistically vivid depictions of North American bird species.
