Description

This plate depicts a White-crowned Sparrow perched among large green leaves and clusters of dark berries, rendered with the exacting botanical and ornithological detail characteristic of John James Audubon's celebrated 'The Birds of America' series. The bird is shown in a naturalistic side pose, its distinctive black-and-white striped crown clearly visible against the lush foliage.
