Description
Three red-winged blackbirds are depicted perched and in flight among slender blossoming branches against a soft powder-blue ground, rendered with Audubon's characteristic naturalistic detail and graceful botanical composition. The birds display their distinctive dark plumage and vivid red-and-yellow shoulder patches, capturing the species in lifelike, animated poses. This plate is from John James Audubon's landmark ornithological work 'The Birds of America,' a monumental series published between 1827 and 1838 that documented over 700 North American bird species and is considered one of the finest achievements in natural history illustration.
