Description
Two Gray Catbirds perch and take flight among a leafy branch laden with ripe blackberries, rendered with Audubon's signature naturalistic precision and delicate watercolor palette. The upper bird spreads its wings in mid-flight while the lower bird rests calmly on the branch, both displaying the species' characteristic slate-gray plumage and rusty undertail. This plate is from John James Audubon's landmark ornithological work 'The Birds of America,' published between 1827 and 1838, widely considered one of the finest natural history books ever produced.
