Description
A striking Art Nouveau poster features a menacing black cat seated upright against a glowing red-orange halo, its yellow eyes fixed on the viewer with bold, graphic authority. The text announces the touring show of the Chat Noir cabaret, founded by Rodolphe Salis in the Montmartre district of Paris in 1881 — one of the most celebrated bohemian venues of the Belle Époque era. Steinlen's 1896 lithograph became an iconic piece of French poster art, blending decorative typography with powerful silhouette illustration.
