Description
This sepia-toned lithograph poster advertises a charity sale held on June 7 and 8, 1916 at 3 Rue Boudreau, Paris, in aid of the Hôpital Bénévole No. 26bis at Saint-Ay in the Loiret region during World War I. A haunting profile portrait of a figure in a white head covering — evoking a nurse or veiled woman — dominates the left side, rendered in warm brown ink with expressive, sketched linework typical of early 20th-century French lithography. On the wall it reads as a rare, emotionally resonant piece of wartime social history combined with refined graphic artistry.
