A richly detailed chromolithographic plate from Ernst Haeckel's 'Kunstformen der Natur' (Art Forms in Nature), depicting a lush bouquet of exotic orchid species — Orchideae, or Venus flowers — rendered in velvety crimsons, soft pinks, creamy whites, and warm yellows against a muted sage-green ground. The composition overflows with frilled and spotted petals, capturing the extraordinary diversity of orchid morphology with scientific precision and decorative elegance. This plate (Tafel 74) was lithographed by Adolf Giltsch and exemplifies the Art Nouveau botanical illustration style that made Haeckel's 1899–1904 portfolio a landmark in both natural science and visual art.
