Description
A large, luminous Trumpeter Swan rests amid lush marsh grasses and reeds, its head gracefully turned inward against its billowing white plumage in a posture of serene repose. This plate is from John James Audubon's landmark ornithological work 'The Birds of America' (1827–1838), widely regarded as one of the greatest achievements in natural history illustration, depicting North American birds in life-size detail. The Trumpeter Swan — the largest native waterfowl of North America — is rendered with meticulous botanical and avian accuracy against a soft blue-green wetland background, creating a tranquil, naturalistic composition.
